Had the opportunity to review the new packaging of the Pepperwood Grove wines but only mentioned the wines in passing. We intend to rectify that oversight now.
Pepperwood Grove is the brainchild of Don Sebastiani. Don comes from one of the pioneer winemaking families of Sonoma County. The vineyards and winery were then passed to his son August and his wife Silvia who became the grandsires of modern winemaking techniques in both Sonoma County and California. August trained his sons Sam and Don and his daughter Mary Ann in his ways of making wine and growing grapes. Families being families, there was disagreement and then a split. Sam went on to found Viansa Vineyards to produce high quality wines while Don established Don & Sons with the object of producing affordable wines at ultra reasonable prices. Both succeeded beyond their wildest dreams.
One of the very successful labels that Don Sebastiani introduced was Pepperwood Grove; wine whose quality is far above its reasonable selling price. Here too the Sebastiani touch worked and Pepperwood Grove today wines are among the top market sellers. Don’s interest is not in wines alone. He has pioneered the use of the most ultra modern ways of packaging his wines. There are large boxes holding 3 liters of wine, small boxes for 500 ml of wine and ecologically friendly bottles with their own self sealing plastic closures that permits wines to be properly stored for another meal if the wine has not been finished; bravo Don and bravo Pepperwood Grove.
